Music Battle: Who You Got?

Ok so I got to thinking…which one of these hip-hop icons would win if there was a rap battle? I asked this question once on-air and the response was crazy! Just curious who you would pick in an all out battle! They both have a ton of classic hits, performed around the world, and have respect amongst hip-hop peers.  This should be interesting…let me know!

Eminem and M&M's...

Cutting alcohol helped Eminem lose about 30 pounds

In preparation for the release of his new album, Eminem is looking skinny and reports have it that he’s cut out alcohol and lost 28 pounds in the process.

He also works out on a treadmill regularly and runs when he can. The Mirror says his show riders these days include skinless chicken, seafood platters, fruit, vegetables, mixed nuts and mineral water. Good for him.

Eminem

Cheeeze!!!! No? OK

But on another Note

  • BRAIN: Alcohol is a “downer,” It directly affects the brain cells. Unclear thinking, staggering and slurred speech may result. Large amounts of alcohol may cause unconsciousness or death.

  • EYES: Alcohol causes blurred vision.

  • HEART: Alcohol can increase the workload of the heart. Irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure can result.

  • LIVER: Alcohol can poison the liver.  Prolonged use causes extensive damage and failure.

  • STOMACH/PANCREAS: Alcohol irritates the digestive system. Vomiting and ulcers may result.

  • KIDNEYS: Alcohol can stop the kidneys from maintaining a proper balance of body fluids and minerals.

  • VEINS/ARTERIES: Alcohol widens blood vessels causing headaches and loss of body heat.

  • BLOOD: Alcohol reduces your body’s ability to produce blood cells resulting in anemia and/or infections.

  • MUSCLES: Alcohol can cause muscle weakness, including the heart muscle.

But…if you are going to partake in jesus or (jesus) juice then make sure it’s from Mexico…. Get it?

Two Dope Brothers Present: Me and My Girlfriend, why Jay-Z is a punk @$$ buster for stealing from Tupac

This is truly the shit that got me mad.

Gotta look good for my girl....

It is worth noting that rapper Young Noble, who appeared on several songs on The 7 Day Theory, stated in an interview that the Nas song “I Gave You Power” served as a main inspiration for Shakur’s “Me and My Girlfriend.”[8] Long time friend and producer Shock G recounted: and in the “Intro/Bomb First (My Second Reply)” the first 3 seconds Shakur states “Shoulda shot me,” which has been incorrectly reiterated by a certain portion of the hip hop population as “Suge shot me,” due to the low volume of the voice.

Now, the reason why Jay is lower in my book is that he didn’t just sample, he straight jcaked Tupac’s song.  You know Tupac would have had a hot diss track to Jay stealing his shine.  If Tupac is alive, I don’t think that this song is made, because I don’t think that he would have had the balls to steal from a living legend.

“‘03 Bonnie & Clyde” is a song by Jay-Z featuring R&B singer Beyoncé. It incorporates elements from the songs “Me and My Girlfriend” by 2Pac, and “If I Was Your Girlfriend” by Prince. “‘03 Bonnie & Clyde” has lyrics written by Jay-Z and was produced by Kanye West for Jay-Z’s seventh studio album The Blueprint²: The Gift & the Curse.[1] It can also be found on the international editions of Beyoncé’s solo debut album Dangerously in Love.

Released in 2002, the single reached number 4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, becoming Jay-Z’s second top ten single and Beyoncé’s first top ten single as a solo artist. It also reached number two in the UK, where it featured an album cover distinct from the U.S. cover.

The song caused conflict between Jay-Z and Toni Braxton when Braxton claimed that the song copied her use of “Me and My Girlfriend.”[2]

This was Jay’s way of showcasing Beyonce as a solo artist, so I guess that has some merit, but the tenor of the song is about thugging and the love of guns.  While you can argue that Jay is providing a literal interpretation of the song and of Bonnie and Clyde, it was wrong to jack the beat.  You can make the song, but have a different beat, and this is not an issue.  But, I bet the song is not as hot either…

Juelz Santana Wants Eminem, Lil Wayne Collabo!

I personally can’t wait for his new album to drop.  Juelz Santana shows his respect and love for one of the greats: Eminem. He talks about wanting to get him on the next Lp:

“Eminem is my n*gga, seriously, that’s what I been trying to get on the ‘Rap Cemetery’ with me and Weezy, Eminem,” Santana said in a UStream broadcast. “Because he puts n*ggas in the rap cemetery for real. Em, holla at me, get at me, what’s up? I’m here. That’s the only n*gga I really, you know, that I’ll get on a UStream or anywhere like, ‘Yo, I need to holler at Em.’ I f*cks with Em hardbody, matter of fact, I might have to call Weezy up and have him connect the dots for me. They just put that little nice f*cking ‘Drop The World’ on you…” (UStream TV)

That’ll be a good look!

50 Cent and Lil Wayne where’s the rivalry

Anthem of the Kings

50 Cent and Lil Wayne where’s the rivalry

Eminem, 50 Cent and Lil Wayne collaborated on a song called Anthem of the Kings, not one of their best performances.  However, recently 50 Cent disrespected Lil Wayne on his new album he called Lil Wayne lyric fake.

It is hard to tell where this is going because it seems like a business move by G Unit and not personal.  Lil Wayne was said to be the hottest rapper in 2009.  Yes 50 Cent is still probably larger than Lil Wayne, but Lil Wayne is moving up the ladder in a big way.

While it is said that 50 Cent called Lil Wayne collaboration ho, he collaborated with him on a new song.  With Lil Wayne on Lockdown at Rikers hopefully artists like 50 Cent, P Diddy and Jay Z all mega stars will find a way to get along

Video Sneak Peek: Lil Wayne, Featuring Eminem, 'Drop The World'

[lastfm]Lil Wayne’s[/lastfm] Rebirth album is a passion project for the almost-incarcerated New Orleans rapper. After the star-making success of The Carter III, it would have been the safe move to give fans more of the same. Instead, Weezy chose to make a raucous rap-rock album featuring a new, clearly cathartic vocal style; it was a scratchy rock-and-roll roar that exorcised demons with the some help from his old friend, Auto-Tune.

“Drop The World,” (the third single from Rebirth, or fourth if you count B-side, “Da Da Da”) features another friend of Wayne’s in[lastfm]Eminem[/lastfm], who adds his lyrical two-cents on this quiet-loud-really-loud rock ‘n’ rap jam.

In this sneak peek at the video for “Drop The World,” we see a little bit of Eminem and  a fair amount of destruction. As Wayne rap/sings about dying, being reborn and dropping the world on its head, hordes of people swarm around him, destroying stuff, smashing things and basically acting like extras in a never-seen [lastfm]Rage Against The Machine[/lastfm] clip. Things mellow out when Eminem comes in for his slightly more wistful part, but you get the feeling the next riot is just around the corner.
